Shoot Me!

I am feeling the ever loving shit out of Australian label Shakuhachi's prefall 2011 collection:

This collection hits on just about everything I'm obsessing over both currently and eternally- Sheer, length, drapes, neutrals, 60s colors like orange and mustard yellow, fringe, and lingerie elements (particularly those flesh tone thigh highs which are so frumpy-sexy in a naughty secretary kind of way)

The maxi on the left reminds me a little of Givenchy fall 2010, no?

So hot and so wearable. Thanks to Queen Michelle over at Kingdom of Style for pointing me to my latest obsession.

outfit: nye

2011 is shaping up to be another year that can s my d, but at least I had a cute outfit in which to ring in the next shitstorm. Do you think I got any good pictures of it? Of course not!

I ended up abandoning what I had planned on wearing at the last minute because I couldn't quite get it to look right. Luckily I had an adorable little lacy/bodycony dress I'd planned on wearing for my birthday, and the night before I found this lovely brown velvet cape at Salvation Army for $2.50:

Oh, and these shoes:

Which are a lot cuter in real life and rather dainty for my taste, but for some reason they really called to me.

Happy fucking new year.

Granny Panties

Brooke Candy from StylelikeU.com from Stylelikeu on Vimeo.

I used to think I would travel through the world alone in my love of wearing granny undergarments as outergarments but I think this girl may be my soulmate. Seriously though, I love going through all the granny bras at Gabes- you'll find some fantastic tops that way!

StyleLikeU is such an interesting website- fun, fascinating, a little voyeuristic. I'll watch a documentary on pretty much anything, just because I love hearing people talk about things that they're super knowledgable and passionate about. So naturally I especially love hearing people talk about their clothes. So good.

Paper dolls for adults

Well this is certainly addictive:

I really wish I had my whole wardrobe in this thing, ala Cher Horowitz. Buuut instead it's just another counterproductive time sucking black hole of internet doom. Just what I need! Thanks, H&M.

Maxed Out

New Years Eve is quickly approaching so of course I've been thinking about what I'll wear. 'Tis the season of little black dresses and sequins, and though I'm a huge fan of both, who wants to look like everyone else? So I was thinking this Marchesa maxi dress would be perfect:

HAHA I WISH. With some red lipstick, I'd look like a cartoony, pop-art version of an Egyptian goddess. But alas, the size of my sartorial aspiration doesn't exactly match the size of my bank account.

So instead I was thinking of wearing this dress I got at H&M a while ago:

I went up a few sizes, so it's extra long, the sleeves are extra billowy, and the v is extra deep. Instead of taking the waist in I was thinking of cinching it with some kind of gaudy gold vintage brooch or sweater guard. Underneath I think I'll wear a teeny tiny LBD , or maybe even these high-waisted faux leather shorts I have, and a bra. Huge stack o' gold bangles. Black booties. Shazzam! I think I got it!

Now...onto Christmas shopping...fuck!

Making Moves

Spied this cutie today on Fashionista:

I think she sealed the turban deal. Off to ebay....

Speaking of ebay, I had a revelation a few weeks ago. I was thrifting and became frustrated when, as usual, I found a ton of great stuff but none of it fit my slightly-larger-than-a-midget frame. It occurred to me in that moment that I should start my own vintage boutique on ebay! Duhhhh. I've amassed a ton of great shit in the past few weeks and am essentially ready to go except that I can't think of the perfect name! I swear, that's always the hardest part! It was hard enough picking a name for a blog, let alone a business. Ugh. Hopefully within the next couple weeks we'll be up and running, though. I'm excited. I really think I could do well with this. And hopefully I'll someday go the way of NastyGal, but instead of a webstore I want to open a little store here in Pittsburgh. Big plans, my friends, beeeeeeg plans.
